Wireless Network Works, Internet Doesn't.

Hello all.

Right, basically my cousins girlfriend had a Dell laptop and it was naturally clogged up to high heaven with crud. So me being the nice fellow that I am decided to remove a few useless things (McAffee Apps, Norton and so on). Done a restart and now for some reason the laptop won't go on the Internet. The wireless device is switched on and connected to the router because I can access the network however when I open up the browser it says that every site is unable to be displayed (as if the Internet wasn't working).

Now, I know the wireless Internet is fine and fully functional because my PS3 connects to the Internet wireless wise just fine. I ran Command Prompt and done a ping on Google, which gave me back a successful ping result (as it would do if connected to the Internet and working fine). I've done everything I can think of such as deleting the network connection and creating a new one, running all of Windows Vista's lovely diagnostic tools and none of them detect any faults. I'm out of ideas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tayl.

That's what you get for being a nice guy. Now she thinks your full of crap and you don't know what your doing but you can still save it. Use a copy of WinSockFix to repair the stack.

That didn't help, thanks for the suggestion anyway. Turns out it was AVG that I had put on there. For some reason on her laptop (configured exactly the same as it is on my laptop and using the same wireless network connection) was blocking her from going online but not me. Reconfigured that and everything is hunky dory. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Damn I hate when my first guess is wrong. Shoudl have suggested that you disable any AV first. Glad to hear you got it fixed.
