wireless or satellite security

Hi all,
Forgive my stupidity here...

We are anticipating getting either wireless internet from here >> http://bigtube.net/ or Hughesnet.

A friend of my wife gets free internet from her neighbor and this just freaks my wife out. Is this possible and/or preventable?

It is possilbe AND preventable. It's possible: If you use a wireless router; people can only use YOUR internet if you have wireless. It's preventable: by putting a password, called "WEP" so that only people with the password can use the connection.

Is this something any idiot, such as myself, could do? Or will the installation people walk me through this?

I'm sure you could have an installation person do this, but it's pretty easy.

When all else fails...goto the manufacturers website and they have it spelled out for the simplest of people.
