Wireless PCI Ethernet card

Hi
I'm new here and am no computer wizard, so bear with me.

I bought a new XP computer recently and switched over to high speed internet at the same time.
No problems connecting this puter up to the high speed. I have a wireless router.

I gave my old computer (win 98) to my son, but since it's an older computer, I was told we needed to install a PCI wireless Ethernet card into it, so he can use the high speed as well.

My son went and bought the card and I installed it, carefulling following the instructions, but after I installed the card and reconnected everything, then turned on the puter, I was suppose to get a window to guide me through the rest of the process, but I didn't and I don't have a clue as to where to go from here.

There is an icon on the desk top and my programs, but nothing happens when I click on them.

Any help would very much be appreciated :o

What i would do is go the the Control Panel, add/remove hardware, tell it to serach the CD drive for drivers, and see if it finds the hardware. You really dont need the software that it comes with, just the drivers.

I think I posted this in the wrong Forum, but I'm new and still don't know my way around yet.

Sorry about that.

I just spent 3 hours on the phone with my computer tech brother and now we're both frustrated. <sigh>
We keep running into this file that cannot be found. We tried everything and nothing worked.
Looks like I'll be calling the ethernet card company tomorrow to give them hell.

"Quick and Easy" is what it says on the box. Ha!

Yes, it does. My brother has the same thing installed on one of his old Win 98, so that's not the problem.
We keep running into a "file cannot be found" message that prevents us from completing the installation.
We've looked everywhere we could think on my puter for this file and keep running into dead ends.
