Wireless Printer Connection

As my wireless router searches for a printer, what stops next door's router from connecting to my printer and my router from connecting to next doors printer?

Routers won't search for printers. Printers have to be attached to the network before routers will detect them. As long as you have your wireless secured there is no way someone else's printer can attach to it.

It doesn't!!! The printer will only connect to a router if the printer knows the key for wireless security. So if your next door neighbor has a wireless printer connected to his router/network and your network is secured with a password then his printer won't connect to your router. If your router isn't secured then its really easy for a wireless printer to connect to your network.

I'm not sure why this is so difficult to understand. Its all about wireless security.

The router assigns an address to the printer, how does it know which house the printer is in?
Just as John said, it doesn't know or care where that printer is located. If you have a password on your wireless network, then only devices you know of will be on that network. You'd have to tell your printer to connect to your neighbors WiFi in order for them to print to it.

Thanks Johnb35, I can understand if the printer has the wireless key/password, it's a couple of years since I set it up, I do not remember putting any password in to my printer, maybe my memory is failing me.
