okay, so this is my setup, i have a wireless printer in the house, not directly connected to any computer at the moment. i have a desktop computer which is directly connected to my router which i access the internet with. the question is, can i access the wireless printer through my wireless router without directly connecting my wireless printer to anything???

please help with this.
thank you.

I'm still rather new to wireless printers, but it should work fine as long as it connects to the router. I know some are wifi and some are bluetooth. But as long as it's a wifi printer and connects to your wifi router, you shouldn't have a problem.

In order to setup the wifi printer you must first connect it to a computer via usb cable to detect network settings and install software. Once its all setup you remove the usb connection and you can move the printer anywhere you want and you can print to it without a dedicated computer being turned on. I have one and it works great, its a Lexmark 4550.

thanks for the replies.
i figured it out though.
i didn't have to connect anything, just run the install program on the computer with the router, changed some settings on the printer, and it connected right away.

Im looking forward to also getting one soon. have to keep one computer on for the rest of the computers. will be soon though.
cheers......
