Wireless router/adapter questions

The other day I was at my computer connected to the internet. I got up for a bit and when I came back noticed I was disconnected from the net. I looked at the available wireless networks and my network was not listed. I powered down my modem and router but to no avail. I tried using my laptop to see if it would see my network but it did not. I connected my 360 directly to the router and it was able to get online.

So, first question: Does this sound like a router problem? Or is it the adapter? I'm thinking router.

If the problem is my router, I have looked at some alternatives. I have been using a Linksys wireless-G but am thinking of going with a Belkin wireless-N. Now I know I don't have to buy a new adapter right away but since I would want to take advantage of the N I probably would.

This leads to my second question: If I buy a usb N-adapter, do I have to remove my g-adapter card?

Thanks!

Sounds like the wireless part of your router went out. Go into the router configuration and see if the wireless has been shut off for some reason.

There should be a little button on the back where the ports are, that you will have to use something small like a paperclip to push. Hold it down for about 30 seconds, and the router should restart. This might fix the problem, but it could just be burnt out like john said. Wireless routers have a nasty habit of just giving out after a while, but they usually come with a one year warranty.

Also, there is no real reason to go to wireless N, unless you transfer a lot of data over your home network. You wont notice any difference in your internet speeds. and you should be able to run as many network adapters off of one computer as you want, although any N adapter will probably support G as well.
