Wireless Router and Access Points

Hey guys,

My friend wants me to kit out his business premise(a nursing home) with wifi coverage and i havent set up big wifi networks before so i have a few questions if you guys could help <3 :)

The details:

  • The business is set in a very large and weirdly designed old building, that's been built on to and extended alot over the years, place is like a maze!
  • They dont have the need for mid-high range routers/AP's
  • The business itself houses 50~staff and around 50 residents.
  • Wi-Fi is used for light browsing among the staff and residents BUT they want to have a good Wi-Fi in place for the future

My plan is simple:

  • Have the current old router replaced with a comercial/business standard wireless router ( im looking at using an Asus RT-AC66U )
  • Have cat5's running from this router to three access points dotted around the building.
  • Have access points set up assuming each gives 100ft range(its an old building with lots of thick concrete but within 100ft wifi should be fine), the AP's im looking at are: Ubiquiti Unifi AP Long Range - Radio access point - 802.11b/g/n

Are there any considerations that im not taking into account, ie are all wireless routers and AP's compatible etc..? I have a college degree in computer networking and i think i have everything done right, its just its my first time :)

I do not have a college degree but I use wifi all the time on a desktop computer and deal with network problems all the time you do have it all fine but concrete can take out alot of range. What is your radio access point speed ghrz, mhrz, khrz, or bhrz.

heya,

reading over the post above putting in the college thing seems arrogent, i didnt mean it like that! I was just trying to show that im not doing this with no knowledge.. :s

the AP's im looking at are here: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.as...-range-wireless-ap/bridge-802.11b/g/n-(uap-lr)

Shows the specs im using, concrete is the big concern so to counter that im counting on 100 feet coverage as opposed to 500feet. I am thinking of only having the Wi-Fi on the upstairs floor though, and ideally it will make it through the floor with no issues.

yes it is good enough but because of the concrete it will slow it down about 3/4 to 1/2 but it will work just fine with my android i could be 800 ft away from my house for a conection and it works good
