Wireless router as just router

I have a linksys wireless router 2.4GHz 54 mbps router.

I am networking 2 home desktop computers directly with cat 5 cable. Basically I want to use a wireless router as just a regular router. Is there a threat in doing this due to the fact that it is a wireless router? Should I unscrew the antenna's? Or is there something to disable?
Also, does the fact that the router is a 54mbps effect the speed of the connection?

Thankyou

You can disable the wireless from the routers GUI. In a web browser type the address of the router (most routers use the address 192.168.1.1). Default user name and password are usually admin.

Does this help?

You can disable the wireless from the router's options and the 54mb speed doesn't affect the wired cable's speed at all it's a totally different interface.

You can disable it, like this-

Type 192.168.1.1
Enter admin as the username and admin as the password (CaSE sEnSItiVe!)
Click Wireless
Click Disable
Click Save
It will take you to a black screen, and wireless internet is now disabled, be sure if you re-enable it to put a password on it.

Have a Great Weekend!
