Wireless Router Question

Hi guys, im a newb on a conquest to learn as much as I can. That is why ive joined this great forum.

Currently I live on a second floor home that my uncle owns. He rents me the second floor. I dont subscribe to internet connection, because we share the bill. He already has a broadband connection setup (Comcast). Now he didnt have any wireless networks setup, but since ive moved in and I own a PC, laptop, and PS3, I needed to have a wireless setup.

Downstairs there is a Belkin Wireless G router that i've hooked up. Ive had this Belkin router for about 3 years now. What im looking to know is if I get a higher bandwith router, like a Belkin N, would this increase my connection:confused: Right now when I do a PS3 connection test, it says that Im having 88% signal strength (average). Im also in middle of selecting parts for my new project (HTPC:D).

I've also now got into downloading movies, I enjoy playing my PS3 from time to time. Would getting a wider range router increase my gaming capabilities, and or increase my download times of movies?

Any would help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks In Advance!

I've found that in my multilevel house that I tend to get better signal when the router is located on the higher level vs the ground level. I'm sure that your uncle is probably connected via Ethernet to the router. Maybe you want to move router and cable modem upstairs (surely theres a cable outlet, if not cause $20 to have Comcast install a new one) then buy your uncle a wireless card or wireless USB adapter for him to connect. And to answer your question, a "N" router may or not may not solve your problem as currently set up. (Do a good research of routers as all are not created equal.) I prefer Linksys or Netgear.
