im stumped on this one,

i have 3 comps, one on win2000 sp4 and two on xp, one pro one home.

i have a wireless network running between them, one connected to a router and two with a wireless usb network adapter. The wireless system is a Belkin G Plus MIMO setup.

the computers are relatively close to each other (only 1 room apart)
at the moment the network speed is running at 54mbps

isnt it meant to run at 108mbps?

if so how do i change it?

I actually have this happening to me, only I have a Netgear MIMO router. I'd like to hear what is wrong as well. :)

54Mbps is one of the standard speed ratings for 802.11g (wireless) products. As with USB, which is backwards compatible, so is 108mbps when connecting to a 54mbps device. If the usb network adapters are only rated at 54mbps, that's how fast they'll run.

If it is possible to up the speed, then it'd be done in the router configuration screen (by typing in the router address into IE, usually something like 192.168.1.1)

if this is the one you have, then it seems to be a 54mbps adaptor, from what i could find on the net.

Very strange they would bundle 54mbps USBs with a 108 hub???

Please try not to double post. There's an edit button to add information to a post before a reply.

If your router and usb adapters are the same is listed on this page, then the router advertises itself as being twice the speed of 802.11g, but the USB atapter mentions no such thing. Since if it did support 108mbps, they would definately advertise it, I think there's your answer.

Edit: You beat me to it, Scrat. :)
