Wireless System

Is there anyway to hook up a wireless system in a home without connecting the Router to my CPU? I want to run the cable to the modem and to a router but still be able to have my desktop and laptop wireless.

you will have to hardwire one computer to the router to get it configured, but when thats done, you're mint

I have the router already hooked up now and it works great, problem is that I am going to a new DSL carrier (Local Cable Co.) and they want to hook up the modem directly to my computer (which constitutes a hole in my wall). I was wondering if you need to hook the modem/router up to a computer in order for it to work or if I could hoook it up stand-alone?
