Wireless USB Adapter Problems?

I have a N300 Wireless USB adapter for my computer. It works fine 75% of the time. but the other 25% it causes annoyance.

Sometimes when I go to a website it'll just tell me that the web page can not be found. So I must then refresh the page a couple time until it finally works. Sometimes I have to wait around 5 or so minutes until it finally works.

Also youtube videos don't load constantly. Usually I'll click a video and it works fine but other times I'll click a video and it'll start to buffer and then it'll say 'error this video cannot be played'.

As you can see this can cause a bit of frustration. I just don't understand how this adapter does this because my motum/router is only like 40 ft away from the wireless usb.

Any ideas on how to fix this without buying a new adapter or switching to wired?

Hi,
My name is Priyanka and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.

I would suggest you to try few steps.
1. Try to check if you still get an intermittent connection on a wired LAN connection also.
2. Please check the speed and also if you have another laptop, check if it’s an intermittent connection on another laptop also.
3. If intermittent connection on a different laptop also you need to check with your internet provider.
4. If you have done al the above steps ,please check the firewall settings on your system.

Please reply if anymore queries.
Thanks and Regards

And what is step 5, once all the above steps have been taken and firewall settings have been checked? Is that the point where your checklist ends and its format and reinstall? :)

Steven,

You say your router is "only 40feet away".

What happens if you move closer to the router, without going wired?

Are there any thick walls or lots of electric bits in the way of the signal?
