wireless wont connect

I bought my daughter a laptop for christmas.A toshiba one.Its working great bbut it wont connect to wireless with been plugged into the modem.My wireless modem is a zylex it has picked it up but it wont stay connected so i bought a wire to connect to the modem.Anyone know what it could be

Could be your firewall, bad drivers, or your modem could be dying and one thing, I think by modem you mean router.

Try looking on your manufacturers website for the laptop and see if there are any driver updates for the wireless card network card.

If your having trouble finding the drivers you could always try this program, has worked wonders on my laptop, including fixing a wireless problem I was having quite similar to your own. RadarSync

One question, is your wireless near any other wireless devices, phone, mouse, etc.. Sometimes that interferes with the connection.

are you saying that you cannot connect wireless when physically connected to the modem with a wire? cause you cant do that... with out turning stuff off.
