Wirelesse Internet Hookup

I just got cable modem. The computer upstairs works fine when hooked up directly to the modem. I have another computer i would like to receive wireless internet too downstairs. I have a wireless G D-Link adapter for that computer and a wireless D-Link router for the upstairs. The problem is that I can not get either computer to run internet whenever I hook up the wireless router. I hooked up the cable from modem to WAN spot. The computer is hooked up to the 1 spot on the router. If anyone has any ideas on what I need to do PLEASE Help!! Thanks

you shouldnt have any issues with this,
first thing i would do is power off everything
power on the modem and wait till it boots
power on the router and wait till it boots
power up the system that is connect to the router

if your router and PC arre setup correct then thats all that is needed
to get started
