But I am tired of activating Windows XP and having to call the tech support to activate it, and my laptop with a Pentium 3, well, that didn't do too well after a fatal error, so, I bought Vista for it, ill give you screenshots when its up and running, but its Vista Basic on a 850MHz P3, 512MB RAM and a 20GB HDD. Wish me luck :D:D

Ive got a Vista PC on 1GB of RAM also. It runs just fine providing its not intensive stuff.

This is the experience index info for that PC.

Thanks :) Its not the best experience ive had on it, but its not the worst, actually, I am preferring it on Vista over XP.

I never ever thought id actually say this, but.........

Vista is running so well on 512MB of RAM, it must be SP1 or something, RAM usage is 42% on desktop with virus scanner and sidebar. HDD light is off, and no disk activity, no thrashing at all. Its snappy, MSN, Trillian, and Word 2000 works perfectly fine, all running together with no slow downs. I have been WOWED again. So to sum up my experience..

Its using less RAM than XP did on the same tasks (extremely suprising), no hard disk thrashes, and its snappy. SP1 must be beneficial for computers with these specs, as before, I know, a PC with that spec, would have ran like a bag of spanners.

but how do u do that .....................-__- gosh i tried with one gig and 256 mgb video card and it would work for me GAH !

I'm running Vista with only 512mb ram, it runs faster than my old xp machine (with similar specs), I dunno where everyone gets this crap that Vista can't run with less than a gig of ram..
