WMP not working?

when i try to open a avi file with windows media player i get a error asking to debug or close. anyone have this problem or know what it might be?

FYI im useing wmp 11. and my windows updates are all good.
 
hey patrickv, i know its a been awhile sence you have responed, but i just wanted to let you know that i started useing the VLC program and it works great, i like it cause its simple and not a bunch of extra crap that i'll never use. thanks for the suggestion.!

VLC sucks get cccp and use WMPC (windows media player clasic) or zoomplayer
 
so your saying that i should stop useing a single program that does all i want it to do, and instead get 2 diferant programs to do one single thing???

not sure how that is good info? maybe some more info on WHY you have that opinion?

regardless i'll check them out for the hellofit

VCL uses a lot of resources compare to other players apart from not using good "codecs" and btw cccp has all the programs inside one installation program, try it if you don't like it you can always uninstall it
