I have both wmp and quiketime but I much prefer to watch my videos and clips on wmp I have quiketime because a lot a sites require them and some need them, but Im wondering how do I set it so wmp plays all my downloaded movies instead of quitime, or do I have to just delete quiketime?

That would be Apple's Quicktime there. WMP 10 and now 11 will easily play dvds and video files far easier then the older versions. As a substitute for WMP's resource hunger an alternative for both video and audio of different formats is the retail software by Cyberlink known PowerDVD. When playing audio files or cds you can set it to display a screen saver during playback much like the MS player too.

Either open media player, go to Tools, options, file Types, select what you want or select all, ok. Or go to Add and Remove programs, at the bottom Set Access and Programs defaults, hope that answered your question.

Quicktime will still be needed for online not offline content at many sites. This is one reason why Apple had to come out with MS compatible versions so people could install it on a Windows machine. If you go with another player like the ones suggested you will have to select which one will be the default player while installing a second one to WMP. Often you will see the option for this.
