Wndows 7 - PC persistantly crashes

Everytime I do a system scan (ESET) or try to upload my website (Webplus X7), the system crashes.
Both functions start off OK and get about 75% of the way through then the PC suddenly decides it has had enough and freezes, and the only option I have is to turn the PC off, wait about 10 mins then turn it back on.
It's almost as though the PC says I've had enough with this I can't cope with the workload.
Any ideas ?

Also Windows updates ............ gets so far through installing then crashes.

I would be checking the hard drive for errors. What brand of drive is it?

SSD Drive = Kingston ATA Drive
Hard Drive = ST2000MD001

If that makes any sense ?

Well you can run seatools on the hdd and ssdlife or another program for the ssd drive.
