. I was a newbie.
very true. also there are numerous trojans which can disguise themselves into the os.there are sooo many hackers out there just waiting for a newbie to connect a linux box to the internet.
Either because I'm an asswhole and I can't spell correctly or either I decided to stick with Windows. I would choose the second. I know when I start this message you'll pick the first, but don't tell me else I'll kick yoursdave597 said:Why the use of past tense?
I'm actually testing xp64 for stability atm. Haven't got round to installing fedora core 3, or ubuntu, but ive tested several live dvds eg. - knoppix and suse 9.x. suse was especially good in terms of drivers - and has quite a good feel to it.PC Technology INC. said:Either because I'm an asswhole and I can't spell correctly or either I decided to stick with Windows. LinkAn anonymous reader writes "Following in the wake of its previous certifications, Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 has achieved EAL4 certification on 'an IBM eServer.' This puts SLES9 in the same league as Windows 2000 for sales in the government sector and is the first Linux distro to achieve an EAL4 certification."
Well IBM's been punching out dual-core procs for the last few years .... they've also got this Cell stuff ... and they also make the procs for Macs ... I wouldnt rule out Macs entirely quite yetAnother myth is "Macs are better than PCs for DTP". That was true some time ago, perhaps in the DOS (or pre-Win95) era, but not now (unfortunately I have to work a lot on Macs, so I know that for sure).
1. The number one fallacy of security people is they think they are impregnableLinux has more security eg: no one can hack you, but the compability is sucking like heck
LMAO!there are sooo many hackers out there just waiting for a newbie to connect a linux box to the internet.
TouchéWhy the use of past tense?
Been there done that myself ... its a lot more stable that I would have thoughtI'm actually testing xp64 for stability atm.
True but generally speaking if there is a competent security system in place, you'll most likely be safeTo those who can program (C++), Linux would be ideal because it would allow the user to fortify their own system whereas Windows users have to depend on Microsoft to bring out their latest software or an firewall software which will not alway stop hackers.
