Did a XP reinstall, system worked for two days now it won’t boot or get into CMOS settings. I replaced the battery with a new one.

What would be the most likely reason?

Abit KT7A-raid
AMD 850 athlone
Quantum hard drives
single stick of 512MB ram

I know top-of-the-line lol but it’s faster then my DELL 1.5GHz laptop

On an old system like that it could be due to any number of possible problems like hardware. The first two or three that come to mind of course would be cpu, board, power supply right off the top. If one goes everything stops!

Why the supply as one item? If the supply there may be enough left just to see the power light come on and drive lights blink as well as fans spin but no go on anything else. A doa cpu or failed cap on the board will stall the works.

Sorry to give you some bad news but the older system there may need to be replaced especially if one of the three named went while the supply is the easiest to see replaced on an old pc.
