 I'm quite new to all the computer stuff. I am young and all my life I have used dells. I am wondering though is it possible to take parts from a Dell Demension L550r and put them in a new big case? The reason I ask is becuase this model of computer has a very small tower and I'm wondering if the parts are for this certain case and if not is it possible to fit them in a newer gaming case.

What parts? Dell makes most of their own crap, so that you have to buy more dell stuff, so they get more money. Mobo, I doubt it. hdd, cd drive, ram, probably. psu, definitely not

Yea um the case comes wit power supply and how much does a decent mobo run for? The other thing too is that the comp is from 2000 and is a peice of crap. Here is I think what it has

Pentium 3 dono the exact amount GHz
382 Mb of ram
not even worth mentioning graphic's card
10Gb sumthin
17" monitor
sad right?

You lookin for just mobo, or mobo/cpu/ram?

I dunno where to get a p3 mobo, but I could get the newer parts

Intel or AMD?

Intel mobo: www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=0

Intel cpu:
www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=1

AMD mobo:
www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=1
or
www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=1

one is socket A, the other is socket 754. Depends on your budget which one to get

AMD cpu:
www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=1
or
www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=property&DEPA=1

Same as the mobos, depends on budget

Gimme a budget, I'll give you parts

you can get a decent motherboard from newegg at around $40-$100 (There are more expensive ones though). As long as using your old memory (SDRAM) those motherboards are a little harder to find, although newegg.com has a good amount of motherboards that support SDRAM, go to www.newegg.com and click motherboards - intel and select SDRAM for memory type.

Most likely you can use the same floppy, cd/dvd drives/ram, most likely not the same motherboard, Power Supply, not sure about the processor though.

Well these are all very intresting points but now that I see how much work I must put into it for a horrible old comp I might as well buy a new 1. I can get a dell for 389 bucks with...

Pentium 4 processor 2.80Ghz 1Mb L2 Cache 533Mhz FSB
Windows Xp
80 GB (7200 RPM) Hard Drive
512 MB Shared DDR SDRAM
48x CD Burner
