Wondering what a PDA will do?

My PDA was calling me tonight... Litterly! I looked down and it'd powered itself up for some reason! So I grabbed it and my camcorder to make a little video of what it can do. Realize this is the mid-level Dell Axim x51. It doesn't have the dedicated GPU like he x51v does. It's also only running at 520MHz, where others now run up to 612MHz(maybe faster...?)

The skip when I click Favorites is because I didn't want my favorties to be viewed :o But I tried to keep all the load times and what not real-time, so you get some idea of the speed.

The video I played can be found on Youtube no problem, if you want a larger version. Just search for Weatherman roach, or something like that

Finally, I let the demo for Quake play a little while playing Blood Red Sandman in the background. Just letting you see how it can multitask ;) The MP3 does cause it to lag a bit, but it's still playable. The only reason I wasn't playing it personally is because you have to keep the stylus on the screen. It'd be hard to see what's going on.

*note*
I just realized the audio looks a little off at the end. I beleive that happened when I uploaded to Photobucket. It doesn't lag like that on the PDA itself :P

lol i post on Computerforum with my moms PDA, and i watch stuff on Youtube. I would really like one for myself.

Omega - Hehe, yeah, as long as it's the 400MHz XScale, it should be able to do most of this just fine. My old Axim x5 would do about all this, but not nearly as well. Videos seem to be a problem on it... The x3 my friend had(also 400MHz) ran videos MUCH more smoothly.

AdmnPower - There's a game called Racing Days that I beleive most any PPC based PDA will run. Give it a shot :) You might just be pleased.

Burgerbob - What PDA does she have? I've made a post or two on here using mine, but I can't watch youtube stuff... These things are way too limited, I know they can do more than what's preloaded...

i bought my Axim X3 4 $112 off Ebay, with a aluminum case, and 256MB memory card...

i dont think my Axim has any of the features yours does Other_One :( ...

When did you buy it? I hope it was awhile ago, because you can buy those now for like $75.

jp198780 - There's really no major difference between them. Mine doesn't have a dedicated GPU or anything. I know yours had a slower processor(different model and only 400MHz if it's the top of the line x3) Otherwise, the x3's where quite good. A huge step over the x5.

The 300MHz is a bit crippled, but it shouldn't be all that bad... I'm quite sure I ran Racing Days on my second PDA, which was a 300MHz Toshiba. Man that thing was probably faster than my Axim x5! I just returned it because the battery life was about 1 hour!

yeah 300mhz is bad...

for a ppc :p

my 312 mhz palm zire 72 pwns ppcs. speed benchies see it as 350mhz at stock 312, an it overclocks well. i can easily run full 700meg 2 hour movies downscaled. coreplayer rocks, you guys should check it out :)

Well of course the format/video bitrate/audio bitrate/Hz/resolution all factor in when playing such videos. I have no doubt you can as my dad can on his 200MHz Palm as well :P

My mom just got a new HP, its pretty fast in all respects, but it has a battery problem:mad: . My dad has a way cool HP with a 640X480 screen that i do most of my watching with, tho. I dont know the exact model names.

Hmm... I'd like to know the models because mine's about as up to date as they come, still, but I can't view stuff from youtube...
