Wondering what upgrade to my system would currently yield the most benefits.

I bought an oldish gaming computer from a co-worker about 2 years ago, I'm now having issues running newer games that are coming out on very low settings. What part of my computer would be the most beneficial to upgrade, to increase performance the most?

Windows Vista 32bit

Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core Processor 5600+ 2.80 GHZ

Memory (RAM): 6.00 GB

If you need any other additional information please let me know!

Graphics card? Power supply? Honestly, all of your specs are needed.

Also you're using a 32 bit OS with 6GB of RAM. 32 bit OS's cap your RAM usage somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.5GB. If you want to utilize all that you have you need to get a 64 bit version.

Sorry, I really don't know all of my specs, I have a file that has all the indepth stuff but it was to big to place into my original post, So the OS seems to be a pretty big problem? I really want windows 7 64 bit, would that be a good choice?

See thats my problem right now, I'm currently very low on money, But I have enough to possibly make something work, but I don't want to blow alot of money on one thing and then have it get bottle necked, I can say this though, that I will be upgrading the system once I do have money.

Nothing much you can do without bottlenecking.

Download CPU-Z. It should tell what motherboard & video card you have got.
Open your case to find out PSU brand and power

What is your budget? This machine not really worth investing...

One thing that might give you a decent performance boost on that system, at a reasonable cost, without changing anything else, would be to install an ssd, provided the system doesn't already have one. I'd recommend at least a 120GB ssd to install your OS and games and use the existing drive strictly for data.

If you do build a new system once you have money, the ssd would be a component that you could move to the new system.

There probably wouldn't be much else I would recommend to upgrade on that system, you're better off saving your money and using it to buy/build a new system.

If you don't have enough money for a new machine or some serious upgrades anything you do won't be worthwhile. Save and build a machine later. You'll regret sinking money in to this thing.

To make it capable of playing anything you're going to need to spend a decent amount of money.
