Ok ive got this somewhat old computer, widnows 2000. I wanted to do a little upgrade to it so, i installed windows xp on a 6gb hard drive, and someprograms (it worked great)
then i realized thats definetly too old so i took apart an external harddrive that was 120gb and installed it, as a slave, it all worked great with windows xp. I put it all back together nicely and then it stopped working. SO i figured i did some little stupid mistake, coukldnt find one, so i figured this is stupid and after many attempts with problems like diskette control error, i decidded to take the 6gb harddrive out, and just use the 120, and then it worked again. Now i dont know what happened and i stopped working again, so after many attempts i figured ill just try and get the hd to work, so i unhooked the floppy, and cd, and just tried getting the HD to go, finally right when i thought i got it, it said automatically updated recognize 120gb harddrive, f1 to save changes and then i do that and it takes me to a black screen with a flashing cursor like this | and just sits there.

THe harddrive is hooked up to ide primary, to the harddrive, and of course my power, id otn see what im doing wrong. Or if it can be fixed

Sorry about the long message, but i figured its annying when people leave out details. o thats everything..... please help
thanks

and i just figured out after 20 minutes of a black screen it automatically shuts down
also if you read my server thread, this comp is not one of those comps, this computer, is old, and slower.
im not even sure what it is its a Compaq.
