Won't Boot from OS Drive

Hey folks,

I have my OS on a SSD along with some other programs. The last two times I rebooted, I had to go into the BIOS and go to the boot menu and select the boot drive. The SSD is not recognized in the boot priority list. What's causing this, and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks

Hi John,

Only in the drop down boot menu. With my MB BIOS, there's a drag and drop section at the bottom where your drives are, the SSD doesn't show up in there. It's in this section where you position the order of the boot drive.

So the bios detects it but its not available in the drop down menu to set boot order? Is that correct? If thats correct, you may want to reset the cmos or there may be an issue with the drive.

Yes, i would simply try to load default bios settings first. REstart and then go in and try to reinstate the settings you need.

If that works, I would also ensure you have the latest bios for your motherboard and SSD.

Thanks, I'll try that first.
