wont boot. please help

my computer wont boot. anything. when i boot windows off the hdd i get a screen asking if i want to boot up normally or in safe mode and after its on that screen for maybe 5 seconds, it completely locks up. if I choose quickly, any of the options, it doesnt boot all the way, safe mode it just locks up while its booting up and regular it just gets stuck on a black screen. I tried booting ubuntu off a live cd (which works on other computers) and it gets me as far as the menu asking if iw ant to install or just run it without any changes. then it freezes before i can make a choice.

how do i diagnose this and figure out whats wrong? I did just do a processor swap b ut it was working earlier. the last thing i did before it began acting this way was on easytuner (gigabyte overclocking program) on the "smart" tab or w/e with the rubix cube on it I click one of the options (i dont remember which) and it just froze. i left it for a long time and nothing happend so i turned the comp off and i hasnt booted up since. please help
 
like wiwazo said check your ram, and also try resetting your bios manually on the board it self.
 
k il try different ram. i dont think its the problem because it was working fine earlier. maybe that doesnt matter. i really dont know haha il try diff. ram then il try resetting the bios
