I have a Sony Vaio desktop that has been working like a dream the last couple of years. Never had any problem with it whatsoever.
Recently I went on vacation and turned off my power surge protector in which my computer is connected. It stayed off for 3 weeks.
Last night when I came home and tried to power it up the following happened:
1) Powered up power surge protector
2) Monitor and other devices started fine
3) I then pushed my power button to start my computer. There was a brief sound (normal) like it tried to start up but then it died. When I pushed the button again it was totally dead.
4) I unplugged the power cord and tried again. Same results: First time I push the button it tries to boot but then it goes dead and stays dead.
Does anyone know what this is, what is causing it, and how to fix it?
