I've solved this problem so don't bother replying. Word 2007 documents which contain macros are easily identifiable by their .docm extension which distinguishes them easily from the older versions which I think just used .doc.
And if you see my other post you'll see that Word 2000, Word XP and Word 2003 can all open the new Word 2007 files if you download the compatibility pack (this regards Windows and Mac).
