Word wont start

Just today, microsoft word would not start up. It would act like its starting, giving the microsoft word symbol and who its registered to and all, but it just stays there. When I restart my PC and try it again, it gives the "would you like to start word in safe mode" message. Whats wrong?

I've had that happen in win98 before. In the Ctrl+Alt+Del menu there is a strange system32 program that pops up. All I have to do is shut that one thing down and word will continue working fine. Thats probably not your problem though.

I suggest you just reinstall it with the XP CD, its not like you'd lose anything if it didn't work.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing it. Nothing worked. Its only word that wont start, publisher and excel are fine. Could it be a virus?

Perhaps you could try finding a .doc item and click on that, instead of just opening word by itelf. I has worked for me before, but again, it was on my old win98.

Didnt work, I posted a hijackthis log in the security section to make sure it isnt a virus. This is really frustrating.

Wait, I think I found the problem. Norton Internet Security for some reason wont let Word start..... I'll see if I can fix it.

EDIT- I cant seem to find out whats wrong!! The only way for word to start right is for me to disable Norton, I have checked to make sure Norton allows it but it still doesnt work!!
