World of Warcraft is Spyware!

HA!!! That makes me laugh... good thing I dont play MMO's....

My question though- Can a program like Steam do the same?

Blizzard and Microsoft are setting a very bad precedent. The fact that under US Law it might be legal is very concerning. I also wonder what online retailers really do with my credit card numbers... I remember emailing one asking for my credit card number to be deleted from their database. The company replied that they were unable to delete my credit card number but assured me it was safe... I told them my lawyer would contact them (never followed up..)

It is scary how easily accessible our personal information is. For US citizens our social security number is used as identification all over the place. This is horrible.. in '04 8 million US Americans had their identities stolen.

I understand why companies need to find ways to ensure their products are not being physically modified and their software used illegally.... but spyware should not be the answer. To use an old cliché term... Its opening a Pandora's box.
