Worried that I've been hacked...

For quite a while now I have noticed that my firewall often tells me that *such and such* an application has changed and is requesting to access the internet. This seems to happen with alot of my applications including all my online games, windows explorer, internet explorer, firefox and loads of others I can't remember right now.

I have no idea what is causing this or what it could mean. I'm only slightly suspiscious that I may have been hacked or have some kind of nasty spyware even though I use adaware and spybot.

Is there anything to worry about?

Thanks in advance!

this is normal , just look at the application that it say is trying to access the internet and if you trust that application then check the box that says "always use this command for this application" or somthing to that affect and click allow..this will happen will every program on your computer that trys to acces the internet, but soon enough , after you allowed all the apps on your computer it will stop..hope this helps;)

I'm running McAfee 2005....

....No no no...I've been using computers for long enough now to know all about allowing programs to access the internet. Perhaps I didn't explain myself well enough...Every so often a program such as firefox, for example, will demand access to the internet even though I originally granted it access to the internet months ago. A McAfee popup will appear saying "Firerfox.exe. The program has changed and is asking for access to the internet" (I can't remember the exact wording of the message but hopefully you get the picture).

I'll give you an example: If you play an online game and then apply a patch to the game, your firewall will cause a popup window that says the application has changed and asks you whether you want to grant it access to the internet.

The thing I find worrying is that it happens regularly and with a wide variety of programs; programs that I haven't actually altered in any way.

If it happens again today I'll post the exact message in this thread.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
