Worth Buying A Decent Card?

I have built a new system about a month ago with a AMD 7750+ Black Edition and currently have 2GB 800Mhz Ram and a 400W power supply, I built this mainly for Photoshop CS on a budget at the time but have now decided I would like to start playing a few games. Firstly dont laugh when I say I have just orderd GTA 4 because I know this system will not have a chance atm (especially with the 8100 256mb onboard graphics) but got the game very cheap. What I want to know is do you think its worth me spending money on a reasonable graphics card such as GeForce 9600GT to play new games such as GTA 4 etc, or is it just not worth it because of my processor only being dual core not being able to keep up? I am on a very tight budget so a new processor is a no.. (also if anyone has played gta4 with this processor can it run reasonable?)

It came with the case remember im on a budget so its a cheapo job atm, I was also just looking at the 9500GT but im slowly giving up on the idea of using the system for some games now but would be nice to run gta4 because I like the gta games...

I wouldnt even touch a dedicated card with a case power supply, it pops, you wanna end up purchasing a new computer? Case psu's are usually very weak/cheap. I would save til you have enough for a halfway decent card like a 4830/9800gt and a decent psu.

Right okay, do you think if I buy a decent 500W or maybe bit more supply then from a good manufacturer and a 9500/9600GT with my processor I will be able to play decent games such as gta4? The only game I can play smoothly atm is The Sims 3, lol :) If you think the athlon 7750 is no good for new games then I might save later on and get a more expensive setup...

In the price range of the 9600gt, id just get a cheap 4850 for ~$80-90 and you could prolly play gta iv on medium/medium low settings. Some good psu's are antec, ocz, corsair, pc power & cooling, zalman, xclio, FSP, bfg and thermaltake.

One last thing, what about the processor? Will this be okay for running games if I go and buy the better card and 9600GT?

I didn't see your OP, sorry, Upgrade your card to soemthing like a 9600GT / 4850 as bomber said, most things will be pretty playable, GTAIV on the otherhand, you'll be wanting a quad, although you will be able to play the game with a better card.

I have been looking around and finally decided I want the 9600GT and found this power supply Power Supply Clicky I do live in the uk and am on a budhget so if you know of any better ones not to far over £40 that will power a 9600GT smoothly, I only have 1 optical drive and a single hard drive. Did you above ask what os im running? Its currently vista I wasnt sure if xp would be better for gaming and support the dual core athlon?

I don't think that power supply will work for a 9600GT because it does not have a PCIe 6 pin connector if you let me know what 9600GT you are getting then I can let you know if you will need to choose another power supply or not. Also I would skip the 9600GT and go for a ATI 4850 or 4870. You will get a better performance out of one of them.

Never heard of that brand of power supply, something like this would be a decent psu:

Although i would spend the money to get a decent 500W, should power anything short of an sli rig:

Link to the 9600gt your looking at? Might be able to find a better card for the price.
