Worth the 50 bucks?

These both have the same specs its just i think i might be paying 50 bucks for the name of samsung, so any feedback of people that have these monitors or heard about which is better for gaming. I also want really vibrant colors for games and just in general. any seggestions

I saw this monitor in the store and it still blows me away, its alittle more expensive but is it work it for gaming?

Both those monitors seem to have nearly identical specs (besides dimensions), so I would go with the LG. As for the Gateway, why do you like it better? It doesn't seem to be any better spec wise, and the cost is much higher.

However if I were you, I would buy LCD's from Newegg instead, since you can get a 22" for $250, which is just as good as the ones from Best Buy. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824112009
 
the gateway has vibrant color and has that glossy finish on it which makes it reflect more but it makes it very vibrant.
 
The LG is the infinitely better choice there. I know you probably won't take my word for it, so I'll make a list of reasons for you.

1. LG is the largest producer of LCD panels in the world. They make their own panels instead of outsourcing to Chi Mei like Samsung. So yes, you pay for the Samsung name.. but you don't even get a Samsung product.

2. The Samsung's actual contrast ratio is 1000:1, not 3000:1. 3000:1 is its "dynamic contrast" (a.k.a. a big lie). The LG's contrast ratio is actually 3000:1.

3. The Samsung's actual response time is 5ms; it uses "RTA technology" to attempt to simulate the effects of a 2ms response time. In actuality, this just covers up ghosting with a bright halo effect. In essence, it actually accentuates ghosting rather than working to solve it. The LG has a true 2ms response time.

4. The Gateway and Samsung are needlessly expensive. The LG is better in every aspect and while on sale, cheaper.

5. The Gateway and Samsung both bleed backlight a lot more, especially the Gateway.

6. The Gateway has a 1-year warranty. The others have 3 years.

7. The Samsung has no VESA mounting. You're stuck with the tacky, no-adjustment piece of plastic for a base for the life of the monitor. That's like buying a CPU that only works with its stock cooler.

The list goes on and on. I'm not sure what you meant exactly by "paying for the Samsung name," since LG is the bigger and more reputable company.
