I considering getting a new rig:

Pentium 4 3.2GHz 478P 800MHz 0.09u 1Mb Cache

ASUS P4P800-E DELUXE Socket 478 Intel 865PE ATX Intel Motherboard – Retail

Corsair Twin X XMS3200 1GB DDR400 / CAS : 2-3-3-6* 2 x 512MB / Platinum Heatspreader

Rosewill Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA NCQ ST3160827AS 160GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive – OEM

CHAINTECH AV-710 8 (7.1) Channels PCI Interface Sound Card – Retail

I could get this PC for $1,108.25 (£611). Do you think that this is worth the money?

Well, all I can say is you get what you pay for, but you can often find the same or similar items online for reasonable prices. Are you in the U.S? You could try newegg.com or tigerdirect.com

Id avoid Socket478 Pentium4 Prescotts if at all possible given that they have some serious heat issues (hehe I work with a Prescot based Celeron which overheats like heat's going outta style)

Consider also getting a real power supply. Look at PSU 101 for ideas

I dont want my cpu to overheat. Hmm, that puts me right off intel.... what would be the prescott 3.2ghz equivalent in amd terms (assuming amd is any better with heat issues). Also what do you mean bey real psu, I've looked at psu 101 but i couldn't see the problem. Cheers.

Select AMD and Intel product lines have heat issues. Doesnt mean the entire company is off

I suspsect that the PSU that comes with that case is a really underpowered one but you'd have to check the amps to be sure :)
