I'd appreciate anyones honest opinion on this "new" Thinkpad laptop I just ordered, good or bad, to replace my much older one which had some keypad damage- don't ask & wasn't worth repairing. To put this new laptop in perspective, I only use it as a second computer in my bedroom just for the internet, downloading & word processing, when I'm too lazy to get out of bed & use my excellent desktop in my den. It has broadband cable wifi connection & I don't use the laptop outside of the bedroom. I also don't do gaming but the fastest internet speed the better.
Anyway, I bought from a very reliable regular computer seller on Ebay an R60 Thinkpad with a 1.83 GHZ duo core processer. How does this rank with processers in terms of speed as I'm a little unclear of the pecking order? I think it should be a vast improvement from the Pentium 3 I had in my old Thinkpad. The laptop has a 14.1" screen which I preferred to a larger one for my vision on the bed, 512 RAM- I will be upgrading to at least 2 GB, XP which I wanted over Vista anyway & 40GB Hard Drive which is more then enough for what I'm using it for (My desktop has 120 & I've never gone above 25).
It cost me $599 plus $30 shipping plus tax & is in excellent condition with a 90 day warranty.
Is there a web site that ranks processers? Thanks for your opinion, good or bad.
