would i be able to upgrade my videocard in my dell 4700

i have a 305 watt powersupply and was wondering what is the best videocard i can upgrade with that powersupply i can spend between 200-400
for a videocard and upgrade to a better powersupply to if its neccessary
 
A little more info on your system would be helpful. Fortunately, my parents have a dell 4700 so should be able to help you out. There is a PCI-E x16 slot in mine (verify that there is in yours too to make sure). As for the PSU...upgrading might not be a bad idea, I don't know the exact amps on the 12V rail but I could imagine it isn't very high. I'm too tired now to check but I'll pop open my parents case tomarrow and let you know.

it has a pci E x16 slot and it is a pentium 4 2.8 with HT tech 512 mb of ram upgrading soon 160 GB 7200 rpm dvd x16 dvd rewrite duallayer floppydrive ati radeon x300 SBLIVE 24 bit audio
 
as u can see in my sig i upgraded my memory to a gig from 512mb, got a 500w psu, and an ati radeon X800 XL for around 400 dollars.

can you use just any powersupply for dell or does it have to be a special one and can you buy one from dell
