i want to sell my dell and it has these:

  • athlon X2 5000+ (2.6ghz for those who don't know)
  • 2 gb of ram 667mhz
  • 250 gb hdd
  • dvd burner
  • radeon x1300 pro

my new build will have these:

  • asus maximus forumla mobo
  • Q9450 (the new 45nm quads...this one's 2.66ghz)
  • 4 gb 1066mhz
  • 8800gt
  • 500 gb 7200
  • dvd burner

will i see much of an improvemnt between these two systems here? would this be worth it?

please tell me because i don't know

*i will be using this for gaming, and I should note, that the 8800GT is already in the dell. as long as a new, 600W psu. The X1300 pro is just what came with the dell. i replaced it [the x1300 pro] wiht the 8800gt

It depends on what you use your system for. If you want to play high end games, then yes you will see a drastic improvement with the new system. However if you only do the basics such as E-Mail, internet browsing, light photo/video editing, etc, you won't notice much of a difference.

I don't know why, but I can't stand it when people don't capitalize and stuff...(no offense)... but anyways did you use a public wishlist on newegg for those components? Because I think you used mine..lol (although it's not there anymore..)

Anyways, hopefully someone will help you, as I obviously didn't.

Then yes, you would notice a HUGE difference.

okay good...what if the 8800gt is already in the dell? because i already have it...the x1300 pro is just what the dell came with

would i still see a huge difference (with the 8800gt in the new build)

Idk if you already have the 8800GT in the dell then you won't see as much of an improvement...at least I don't think so....wait until someone else can clarify.

As long as your motherboard or power supply doesn't limit it, it should perform almost as well in the Dell. You probably wouldn't see any difference as opposed to upgrading the other components. It may be best (cheaper and almost as good) to just upgrade your power supply and use your dell.

Yes. You will notice a extremely good performance increase, it would play all games well... EVERYTHING... It's a good rig you got there ;)

Now.. the power supply.. where is that?

You lost me here. So do you have the 8800GT in the Dell or the x1300?

sorry i should have clarified, i already have the 8800gt and a 600watt psu in the dell.

the x1300 pro is just what came with the dell (i replaced it with the 8800gt and the new power supply, which would both go in the new build, and the X1300 pro would then go back in the dell when i sell it)

i'll edit my main post.
