Would Like Game Suggestions

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a business strategy type game.

Something like Roller Coaster Tycoon (or most other tycoons) or Capitalism 2.

I don't mind other types of games, but I'm not into first person shooter, RPG or World of War Craft fantasy type games.

Can anyone recommend anything worth playing?

Doesn't matter if they're old (not too old that I'd need dosbox or anything like that).

I've tried a lot of the sim series. Couldn't really get into The Sims because it's more virtual life than anything else.

Command and Conquer I liked, and World In Conflict wasn't that bad. Anything along the lines would be cool. Realistic real time strategy. I had fun playing Europa Universalis too and a few of the Civilization series.

Just wondering if anyone knows any non mainstream games I suppose one could say.

City building
Business Strategy
RTS non fantasy (as in talking trees or witches and warlocks), but space acceptable
Turn Based again non fantasy but space acceptable.

I'm giving the newish Dawn of Discovery a try right now, but again would like any suggestions popular or not of games you enjoyed playing.

Thanks for the replies by the way.

theme hospital :D

one of the finest games ever made, fairly old now, but the graphics are themed, so don't seem dated at all

Aww good shout!

Haven't played that in ages.

I've always promised myself that I'd actually finish it one day, guess that day has come.

Keep the suggestions coming guys.

Homeworld. if you havn't played it yet, try it. its an old rts game, but still among the best. (just installed it again myself ^.^ )
its one of the few games where formations actually matter. and tactics are important (rather than jsut building massive ammounts of units and overrun the enemy.)

I also have to agree with Theme Hospital, great game. :) (Sim Park was pretty cool too.)

If you can find it anywhere StarTopia is a fantastic game, it's made by the same people who made theme hospital (under a different name though). I found a copy for like $5 at Target a few years ago, but have never seen one anywhere since. Basically you are in control of a spacestation, you build facilities and whatnot, it's kind of an rts combined with a simulation/god game.

Roller Coaster tycoon 2 is IMO amazing.

Roller Coaster tycoon 3 is good but i feel swamped by all the choices available and its more demanding on your system.

Sim City 4 is quite good, nice to watch your city grow over time.

Total Annihilation is my all time favourite for an RTS game, that game rocked.

populous: the beginning. I would say try to get earlier ones too, but they are very hard to come by now, and unless you can run DOS though a VM, you will have to dig out your old, or try to find an old, master system or mega drive :P

If you can get ahold of it try Stronghold Crusader. It came out a few years ago so its outdated but still a fun game. Its game set in medieval game where you build up a castle with defense and set out to destroy the opposition. I had it a while ago but then lost it, struggling to find another one to buy
