112mb of ram

its only got 112mb of ram what could i upgrade it to 512/1,000 whats the most it'll support and does anyone have a link to where i can buy it. Also what is the best linux distro to use with this computer its about 5 years old used it like once back in 2003.

112mb ram? That is a weird number! How old is the pc? Anyways, linux will run on virtually any pc!! Your ram is the only thing that might hold it back! You cant but a stick of 1000 they are only sold in incriments of 256,512, 1024, and 2048mb! Looking at the specs of that your better off not getting more ram as that whole system is way outdated and wouldnt be worth the time or money to upgrade!

I would try ubuntu or similar. You might want to try a live cd or a usb bootable edition before you take the plunge and format your hdd.

Yea was my first computer when I was 13 lol, I've tried ubuntu but in order to run the live cd I needed 256 of ram.

Yes Ubuntu is good, but it takes a minimum of 256MB RAM for the liveCD.

You might want to try DSL (a version of Linux not the internet)

Is not  64MB + 32MB + 16MB :P

maybe 128mb, using 16mb for integrated graphics. I'd go with puppy linux.
If it was 64mb, I'd go with damn small linux. what kind of internet connection will you be using?

What about xubuntu? It's a version of ubuntu that needs fewer resources. The min requirements say 128mb so that's very close but if you use the alternate install cd it only requires 64mb of ram. Either way it'll run better on that machine than windows xp.
