Would this work out okay?

I'm looking to get Windows 7 and a new hard drive for my computer, but I'm keeping the other two hard drives for storage/backup and one of them has Windows XP running.

Can I simply install Windows 7 on the new hard drive and run the computer and use the other hard drives as secondary hard drives without the Windows XP install affecting it? Obviously the files will still be there but will it interfere with the fresh Windows 7 install?

Yes, it will probably ask you to choose which windows version to boot when you turn on the computer.

No, it wont. What you're talking about only has to do with the boot sector on the primary hard drive, which will only have information for Windows 7.

If your talking about Windows 7 Ultimate then (maybe it does it for all windows 7's) but it asks you if you want to keep a file with all of your stuff before installing windows 7 and the file is called Windows.Old
