Would uninstalling IE and keeping only IE 8 help?

My pc is very slow to open IE. I have an IE 8 version. Could it be because I have other IE files conflicting and if so - should I go into Add/Remove Programs and delete some stuff? Just asking - trying to sort this out but I don't want to cause more problems than I already have.

My pc seems to run fine - thanks to John here on the Forum, but it's just opening IE ....it takes 30 - 40 seconds and more sometimes. Even when I have it opened and I search in Google it takes way too long.....like it's 'stuck' somewhere. When I cntl alt delete and look at Processes in the Task Manager for instance I see two iexplore.exe open....right now there's two and they're over 100mb (119,304k for example) mem usage. It's like I have two seperate IE operating on my pc.

Remember - I only know enough about this stuff to get into trouble so please don't be too hard on me if all what I said up top here is normal.
