WoW expansion installation problem

Hey guys, when I go to install my new game (WoW expansion) it gives me this error at 23%, on disk one. The disk in brand new, with not a scratch on it.. I really need some help!

The installer was unable to read the file "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\terrain.MPQ". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at C:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the installer. (The data being read was "World\Maps\Kalimdor\Kalimdor_26_34.adt", and the error code was 4.) If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load)

Blizz tech support is closed right now, so i was wondering if someone here could help em

I mean the disk checker that checks yor hard drive for errors. It's a microsoft utility. To find it start at the properties page for your hard drive, click tools then the 'check now...' button under Error-checking. In that dialog check the box for scanning the drive for bad sectors and hit start. It will take a good long while

Hey guys, I have tried everything to get it to install. I emailed blizzard, and they gave me a big list of procedures.

Another way to test this is to try copying the entire contents of the
installation CDs to your hard drive:
1. Insert CD1 of the Burning Crusade
2. Make a new folder on your desktop and name it something like "Burning
Crusade Installer."
3. Open up the disk itself:
- Windows users should go into My Computer, right-click the CD, and
choose "Open."
- Mac users can simply double-click the CD on their desktop.
4. Go to the Edit menu and choose "Select all", so all the files are
highlighted.
5. Go to the Edit menu and choose "Copy."
6. Open the new folder you created on your desktop
7. Go to the Edit menu and choose "Paste."
8. The files should copy from the CD to that folder.
9. Once this is complete, please put in the next install disk.
10. Open up the disk (using the process in step 2 above).
11. Select the file called "Installer Tome" with the number at the end.
12. Go to the Edit menu and choose "Copy."
13. Open the new folder you created on your desktop
14. Go to the Edit menu and choose "Paste."
15. The "Tome" file will copy over.

Repeat steps 8-14 to get the "Installer Tome" files off of the remaining install
disks. If you receive any error while copying any of these files, that typically
indicates damage to the disk.

However, if you were able to successfully copy all the files to the new folder
on your hard drive, please try running the installation program straight from
there by opening the folder and double clicking on the file "installer.exe". If
you are on Windows XP, it may be listed as an application named "installer".
This has been a dependable workaround for a significant percentage of users, and
may get the game installed for you.

If the disk appears to be damaged, see our Replacement Information page:
http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aInformation0133p1

We have seen some reports from Windows users where clearing out the contents of
the Windows "Temp" directory has gotten users around installation and CRC
errors. The folder is typically located in your Documents and Settings folder.
(For example: C:/Documents and Settings/YourName/Local Settings/Temp). Delete
the contents of the Temp folder and then try running the installation again.

Please make sure you have "Show hidden files and folders" enabled. To do this,
open My Computer and select Tools at the top of the window, then Folder Options.
Click on the View tab and check the radio button for Show Hidden File and
Folders. If you are unable to find this option, please consult your Windows
help guide for instructions.

We strongly recommended running in a Selective Startup when attempting
installation, since background applications may interfere with the transfer of
data. You can find more information and detailed instructions for this mode on
the World of Warcraft Closing Background Applications page:
http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aww0558p

Booting the computer in Safe Mode has also gotten a number of Windows users
around this problem. To do this, please follow the appropriate instructions for
your Windows version on this page:
http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aww01666p

You can also try setting your CD-ROM drive to run with different settings. See
our DMA and Sync Data Transfer page for more instructions on toggling these
settings:
http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=mdt0404p

Doing a scan of the computer's physical memory can help you identify RAM
problems which could cause this issue. We are tentatively recommending users
try memory scan utilities such as the Windows Memory Diagnostic, available
directly from Microsoft:
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

We recommend the extended test suite, which takes the longest time to run but is
the most thorough test suite available with this tool.

Finally, you should make sure the hard drive is working properly, and free of
viruses and spyware. These pages will help with that:
- ScanDisk/Defrag: http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=mgi0559p
- Computer Security: http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=asi0462p

NOTE: You may want to try different variations of the steps above. Combining
multiple steps together has resolved installation issues for many players (for
example boot in Safe Mode and try copying the files to your hard drive from the
CDs. Then attempt to install the game from your hard drive while still in Safe
Mode).

Thats a copy of the procedures they gave me, and none of it works.... Does anyone have any clue whats going on? I would REALLY like to get this game to work.

Thx
Cam

What errors did you get when you tried copying the installer to your hard drive? (the first thing listed in the blizzard email)

Have you tried using a differenent cd drive (or if it's a dvd, dvd-drive)?

Yep, I acually took a CD drive outta my other comp, and put it in, and still froze at 23 percent.

I was able to succsessfully copy all the discs to my harddrive, but when I go to install it manually, it still gives me the error at 23 percent!
So its not a problem with the disc.
I also tried using my freinds copy to install it an it didnt work.
