I just had two BSOD's within 5 minutes. The first one was PFN_LIST_CORRUPT which i have no idea what it means, gunna look it up on google in a minute.

After that i decide to reseat the sticks, and bump the voltage up again. Then it BSOD's during boot! This time it's MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

I had heart stories of too much voltage causing instability with memory, so i backed it down to 1.920v (the sticks are rated at 1.8v but they need more than that just to run on auto settings!)

Someone on another forum told me that these sticks use an XMP profile (they are the newer corsair ddr2 sticks with the blue sticker instead of the purple one) and that my motherboard is being picky, or the ram is just finicky.

For now, I'm running relaxed timing of 6-6-6-22, 1.92v, and 806mhz (closest to stock i can get on overclocked cpu in unlinked mode without going under 800)

It seems to be stable now. I'm too busy to run memtest at the moment, but i guess i should?

other than that has anyone got any ideas? RMA the sticks? they are only a few months old.

Alright, more BSODS:

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTING

BAD_POOL_HEADER

All pointing towards a memory error. I tested my sticks one by one and found one to be faulty. with that stick not in, I can run 900mhz speed, 5-5-5-18 2T timings and stock volts, just like my old 2x1gb kit. With only the other stick in the POST freezes after identifying my CPU and sits there.

I can get the stick to work on nearly 2.1v and 6-6-6-22 timings for a while, then it dies. a quicj reseat later and it works again for a while on stock settings...

Time to send this stick to be repaired. Does anyone know if I have to send both sticks off or just the faulty one for an RMA? (If i cannot get it replaced from the Ebay seller)

This is my first dead memory stick so I need advice. I really don't want to have no computer for a few weeks.

Sounds like the memory is defective. I would get a return merchandise authorization to send them back for replacement. There really is nothing you can do unless you can borrow some RAM because the manufacturer will require you send back both modules.

Well i kinda lied on the RMA and said it was one stick, but that i have more of the same (bought seperately) and would to retain compatibility with them. usually they send you a replacement of the same model. And it's not likde DDR2 is outdated and hard to find/make.

I have an RMA, just gotta print the label and send it off... too bad i don't have a printer >.<

That is weird with that motherbaord...I ran Corsair and G. Skill.

The G. Skill ran the best. Right away it ran at 800MHz smooth as silk for months. I even took it up over 900MHz easy.

Yeah it's a faulty stick. Oh and btw good to see you're still on cofo :)

If i boot with that stick in.. well it doesn't boot :P or it freezes when i'm in the bios changing settings or bsods during windows startup. sometimes it jsut locks up too.
