i currently run a Nvida geforce fx5200 256mb ram and this card isnt powerful enough apparently....so i need to know, do give me all the bullsh"t etc, lol, i just wanna know, what is a good, powerful CHEAP video card, maximum sorta about 100$...thank,

That might go over $100, but it's a really good card. If that is too expensive go for the Radeon 9600XT.

I'd go for an x700 or and x700pro...I have an x700pro and it wasn't too much more. Do you plan to play some of the newer games that are out?

i think the 9800PRO would beat the X700 card, but i can't prove it.

really...i'd wait to get more than $100. to be totally honest, if you are looking into getting another AGP card, i say don't. wait to upgrade to a PCI-E mobo and a PCI-E card. that will last you a whole longer than your AGP based mobo and gfx setup.

im gonna go from a 9200 to a 6800GT. no sense in spending ~$100 on a "hold over" card while i wait. i'm patient, and i could keep that ~$100 for sumthin else.

well come on boy, tell us AGP or PCIe. Can't get an x700 for agp, and i'm pretty sure you cant get a 9600xt for pcie

dont bother upgrading ur mobo just for a gfx card... theres no performance difference between agp and pci e atm... 9600xt is a great card, but i would recommend trying to get the 9800

That might be true, but if you upgrade your Mobo to PCI-E and get a graphics card to go with it, you can SLI it later on, plus PCI-E cards are cheaper then AGP, so the mobo wouldn;t be that much more for a future investment.

But,.. i think he'll have to upgrade prosessor and that stuff to when he upgrades the mobo.. and that aint cheap ;)
do you want to buy a new one, or a used one. you know.. someone who put's a 3 month old geforce 6800 away, because he upgraded to a SLI systen :)
anyway, for that monney, ry getting a 9800PRO, o if you can get a relative new 6800 :)

Nvidia 6600 not gt, if possible.

In love with nVidia or something? ;)

6600nGT is a 128Bit card though and often over $100.

chooka with that budget try and find a 9800Pro 128MB/256Bit.

performance aside, his PCI-E (insert card here) based system will last far longer than an AGP 9600XT/9800pro system. so in the end your saving money.

instead of buying a new $100 gfx card, then upgrading later to a new mobo and yet another new card. you could jsut do it now and save that $100 you were gonna use on the AGP card.

i dont expect him to do this, but it's the smarter thing to do if you want to have your computer be more "fututre proof" and still get a better graphics card (along with a better mobo.)

i did, you must have no read my response last page.

i suggested you HOLD ONTO that $100 until you can get more. then upgrade your mobo and video card to a PCI-E platform. Cost maybe $200 for a semi-decent setup. If you're looking for the best, of course it will be more.

spending money in short bursts (with computers at least) is a waste. you get lower performance parts more frequently. Instead, save you money and spend it on higher performance parts, which will last longer, and will require less purchases in the end.

the mobo would be like 80 bucks there.. he asked for a video card under $100

EDIT: wtf? someone erased there post above mine. this was definetly NOT a double post originally. o well.

i don't think people here understand the concept of saving now, and getting more later.

buy a $100 budget card now, and still have an outdated computer now/later.

OR

save your money now, and upgrade to a "future proof" computer later.

im not sure if that's too complicated or not lol.
