WRT54G works well, WAP54G fails

I have only the Dlink reconfig'd router as a AP connected to the linksys router at the modem.

The old Linksys wap54g AP is once again under the desk unplugged.

I was hoping the different Dlink remade into an AP, but it acts the same way.

To Beers posting, the Linksys AP (WAP54G) was working perfectly with the Linksys Router (WRT54G) up till afew weeks ago. I read at the Linksys website that the Linksys wap54g will only work with the wrt54g or their brand sister router.

The wireless signal was good leaving both AP's, just no internet. But when I connected a laptop to the ethernet cable at the AP location, the wired laptop had the internet.

I'm going crazy.

I reconf'ed the Dlink from start to finish and I'm getting the same results as with the Linksys AP.
With a wireless laptop connecting perfectly to the strong Dlink AP signal, I still have no internet.

If I plug in the laptop to the ethernet cable I have the internet.

But I need the wireless internet connected by the Linksys AP or the Dlink AP since I need two wifi computers to work in that end of the house.
The Dlink as a router worked fine. The internet is at the end of the ethernet cable.
What part in the setup am I missing?
