WTF!?!?! Firefox 6.0???

What the heck? I just get a pop up in the corner saying Firefox 6.0 is available??? 5.0 has been out like a month. I guess Mozilla just considers every minor tweak or feature a major update now....man.

Blame Google, they started this nonsense. Mozilla have said that in the future there won't be versions, just updates... no actual version numbers that are easy to see.

I think I'm going to ditch firefox soon. IE is a no go and Chrome annoys me with idiotic numbering as well, and I can't put my tabs down the bottom.

Suggestions? I'd like adblock too :o

It's ridiculous. I mean We had 3.x for 3 years. Now we've gone through 4 5 and 6 in 5 months. pfft. I'd like a suggestion too, though I know there won't really be any. We really just have 3 main contenders.

I really wish you could install Chrome on a different hard drive, because I don't want it on my SSD. So simple and fast. FF is ok because of all the personas, but I still rather would have Chrome.

I have Windows xp x64bit. I downloaded ff version 6.0. Could not watch any thing on Netflix after that, got rid of 6.0 and put 5.0 back in. Now I can watch Netflix again, and do all the stuff I used to before the ff 6.0 upgrade. I know, a lot of ppl don't like xp x64. But I do and can't afford 7 yet.

I downgraded to 4.0.1 and am not updating for a long time. If you have trouble finding an installer, try oldversion.com or oldapps.com - that's where I found the installer. Mozilla only keeps 3.6.x and the latest version, which kinda sucks if you want anything in between.

It is kind of stupid yes, but (at least to me) ff is still far better than IE or chrome. chrome is good but still needs some work. Opera is also a good choice.

A source of software updates and PREVIOUS versions, is filehippo.com. They have links/downloads for all kinds of software, in various categories. This is where I was getting the earlier version of FireFox, until they finally updated my favorite extensions to work with the newest version.

As Mike suggested, there is always Opera, which has remained under the radar and while down there driven a lot of the innovations behind the other three browsers.

I'm torqued that Mozilla stopped allowing the WM_CLASS variable to be changed... is messes with my ability to manage several iterations (through profiles) to be open at once.

... and they stopped developing Prism, which would have been a really nice stripped-down browser for me to use in one of those iterations...

I may end up going to some of the more esoteric Linux browsers. With the profiles I have, they might as well be three or four different browsers.
