I'm trying to think what would cause it to do that... You done any OCing? Could be instability... Have you tried resetting the CMOS?

Ya, try reseting the CMOS. Take out the small battery and pull out the jumper....wait about 1 minute, then put the jumper back in and then the battery.

im willing to go about 80 ish...I dont want this crap happenin EVAR again...

I know what caused it thou..and no i ddnt OC....YET! lol
ok i know what caused it...
I was sleepin and I heard everything in my house like turn of and on..
that includes printer (loud ass)
fish tank
comp 4 sure
fridge etc..etc...
all I really care about thou is my comp lol....
so which power surge protector you guys reccomend for less than 100?
would I be able to get a good one for less than 100?

thanks.....

Go to radioshack and buy a power strip for 10$ All of them have surge protectors in them (atleast all the one's I've seen). Or go to bestbuy, compusa, circuitcity, office max and pick one up there for 15-20$, they all do the same thing, some happen to have extra slots and stuff like that.

lol I have a power strip on my comps and it ddnt help...If I buy a "UPS"
does it need to be 600Watts? because My psu is about 550W and yeah...
ive never shopped for one of these so im kinda new to the whole subject...

You don't need a UPS. That is meant to keep the computer running in the event of a power failure (usually used by big companies for servers and whatnot). What you need you already have. When you have a power failure it's just that, the power goes off. A power surge is again, just that, a surge of power through the line more than what is normally put through and can end up damaging electronics. The power strip will save your computer in the event of a surge, not a failure. If it fails the computer just shuts off, no harm in that unless it was writing to the drive (which is again only really a harm to very old systems). So in reality owning a UPS will infact just be overkill for what you are doing with your computer.

Plus with power strips, not sure if its the same in the US, the manufacturer offers up to a £10,000 warranty on anything plugged in, incase it doesnt stop the surge properly.

Ok so what Power strip you guys reccomend?
Ill just get another one and get rid of my crapy k-mart ones...

If possible it would be nice if there on tigerdirect or newegg..

thanks....

LOL!!!!!!!!!!
no man....ok you know when theres like a very short power outage?
I was sleepin so IdK but ok everything shut off and then turned back on
so it was like a power ...restart? lol but yeah....I fixed that by removing power cable and plugging it back it...

well i have a ups , saved me so many times here in florida where my power flickers all the time durring lite storms , mines o belkin 8 prong , 35 min run time on emergency power , picked it up for 80 bucks at comp usa

Granted but UPSs (the ones that dont look like powerbars) have voltage regulation in them :)

incase it doesnt stop the surge properly.
I wonder how many hoops you'd have to jump through tho.... and its always "up to $10000" isnt it?
