X-FI extreme optical output???

I heard there is no optical output for X-fi extreme. Is it true? I can't believe a 100$ sound card doesnt have that. I would have to buy the platinum edition to have optical and that one is expensive:(

you can't get surround sound out of the optical out anyways

only 2-channel pcm, or ac-3 encoded surround sound from movies

and if you want optical out, there's $30 cards that will provide you with that

and just so you know, if you're planning on using external processing (using optical out) the spdif signal is going to be identical on a $.99 card, and a $250 card, sans psychoacoustics
