X-Fi won't recognize mic

Alright, since I got my new X-Fi Xtremegamer, it says to plug your mic into this thing called a "flexi-jack".... ya it doesnt work. My mic isnt being picked up for some reason. I've heard that this is a known issue but Im not sure how to fix it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

After a ton of searching, I found one post on some other forum which had the same problem. It seems that you can't have your front panel audio plugged in or the flexi-jack will be disabled... strange problem I didnt expect to have.
