X1900 XT from Mac in a PC

I recently tore apart my old old old Mac Pro and found a X1900 XT 512MB.

Setup:

  • Intel E7200 (swapping it for an E6600 for balancing)
  • 2GB DDR2 RAM
  • GA-G31M-S2L
  • 80GB 2.5" HDD
  • And the Mac GPU.

EDIT: It should be noted that when the system turns on, the GPU fan goes to 100% but the monitor remains black.
I read somewhere that I needed to flash the GPU bios to PC instead of Mac, but I have no idea how to do that :)

Any help = appreciated.

PS. it's a PC made from the sparest of spare parts (:D) so risks are okay :)

Can't be done without another working GPU.

PC/Mac cards use different video firmware due to the way each OS works. Unless you have another card handy (to blind flash or flash with a script and actually see what you're doing). High risk of bricking the card and a high chance it won't work at all.

I read somewhere, after posting this thread, that:

Mac GPU: Can run on Windows and Mac OS
Win GPU: Can only run on Windows, because of lacking Mac OS EFI.

Could it be a simple question of lacking power? According to Thermaltakes Power Supply Calculator, I need a ~285W PSU for this setup, I'm using an oooold 350W.

The power supply should probably be stepped up at least to allow plenty of room for error. As for the card, I found this set of posts that might help flash over the ROM to the card: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=995790

Does the computer even POST with the vid card in it?

Interesting thread, but unfortunately, no, it doesn't POST at all.
PC is a-okay running on onboard graphics, btw.
